Totally rebuilt and upgraded in 2001. New Pontiac ASA body with all new Lexan windows. Carbon fiber Trans Am wing with custom mount . Custom aluminum front splitter and under tray. New interior custom sheet metal. New dashboard with all new gauges, tach, oil pressure and temp, and water temp. New Ultra Shield seat and cover, new Schroth harness. Fire system updated. Many misc. interior updates and replacement parts. Total and complete new wiring system including the previously mentioned gauges, switches, remote battery charge pins, and new NAPA "optima" style battery. Rebuilt fuel cell and new filler mount and location. CHASSIS: Howe ASA center section , New Howe front GTA clip [no 6 cyl motor mounts]. Modifications to front to support splitter and increased down force on hood. Extra bracing around fuel cell. Dry sump tank located in right front of car. Every line on the car is new-- Air equip oil lines, brake lines, radiator hoses, and recovery tank lines. New "Sweet " steering box and all associated lines and fittings. Every suspension part is new including mounts. All are upgraded to Trans Am types setup for road racing. The Ohlin remote reservoir adjustable shocks have been re-valved and rebuilt by Leighton Reese to his specifications. Wheel bearings, studs, and hubs are new. Upgrade to BBS 12" X 16" aluminum wheels. New radiator with electric, switched fan. New catch tanks. Dual front brake duct cooling hoses each side. Brakes have been improved by adding Outlaw calipers in front with 6x 3x1 inch pads and wilwood calipers in rear. The rotors are 13" by 1.25" front and rear and are heat treated. DRIVE TRAIN: The motor is a 427 cu. in. bow tie racing small block [no siamesed pistons]with Brodex aluminum heads built by Cotrell Racing. The motor was built to be an endurance motor with a long life. Red line is 6000 rpms. Premium parts are used through out. Horsepower is 625 @6000 rpm and torque is 584 @ 5250 rpm with 490 lb. ft. from 3750 rpm. The transmission is a four speed overdrive Jerico, with new aluminum case, updated and rebuilt with new shafts, bearings and gears. The rebuild was done by Leighton Reese. The drive shaft is new including the yokes. The Winter quick change has a new ring and pinion, all new bearings and races, new cover, and an electric pump and cooler with ram air. The fabrication and construction of this car has been professionally done by S & S motorsports with help, advice and parts from Leighton Reese , Jim Derhaug and others. The car is in perfect shape being almost completely new. It has been driven by one owner at four Porsche club drivers education events at Brainerd International Raceway and one time at Road America. These events were lapping events, not racing events. SPARES: There are spare parts for this car, two BBS wheels and two HRE wheels. There are extra gear sets for the quick change and misc. other parts including several sets of springs. |
